Why choose Anna?

Vision

Anna is dedicated to creating meaningful and sustainable change in each client’s soft tissue. Through Deep Tissue Massage, Anna strives to meet the needs of each client in the moment, and relieve their pain and discomfort. Creating and maintaining health is an ongoing process, and bodywork in particular is a perpetual work in progress. Anna brings her sensitivity, patience, and compassion to each of her clients.

Deep Tissue Paradox

Collaboration is one component of successful Deep Tissue Massage. Anna encourages each of her clients to stay in touch with their body throughout a session, and “ride the edge of intensity” to the best of their ability. Paradoxically, the more aware and communicative a client is during a Massage session, the greater the impact will be on their health and well-being. Deep Tissue massage is not about “zoning out”, but rather, it’s about creating a heightened awareness of one’s own body.

Background

Anna’s own experience with bodywork led her to consider a career in Massage. Having suffered for 20+ years from chronic pain due to untreated whiplash resulting from a car accident, Anna finally felt relief after ten sessions of Massage Therapy. This experience served as the basis of Anna’s approach to bodywork — collaboration between the Massage Therapist and client, and a willingness to improve one’s own body awareness.

Education

Anna earned her degree in Massage Therapy in 2006 from the Cortiva Institute – Muscular Therapy Institute in Boston. Her training at the Cortiva focused on a range of massage techniques and approaches, inlcuding: Swedish/Therapeutic, Sports, Structural Integration, Trigger Point Treatment, Myofascial Release, and Deep Tissue.

Anna is currently engaged in 300 hours of structural integration training at the CORE Institute School of Massage Therapy and Structural Bodywork.
